Yao Ming is playing in his seventh season of the NBA for the Houston Rockets. His is one of the tallest players to play in the NBA. Before joing the NBA and the Houston Rockets he played in China for the Shanghai Sharks.

Houston Rocket Yao helped the Shanghai Sharks win the Chinese Basketball Association Championship in his final season with that team. He averaged 23.4 points and 15.4 rebounds for the Sharks over five seasons.

Yao Ming with the Houston Rockets has gradually improved his play. In the 2008-09 season he is the top scorer for the team.

Last season Yao unfortunately was forced out midway through the season with a foot injury. He made his comeback to basketball at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.

Yao is married to Ye Li, also a basketball player. They were married in 2007. Yao Ming’s mother was also a top class basketball player having played for the Chinese National team.

Hopefully this season Yao can not be troubled by injury. The past two seasons he has missed over 100 games through injury. Already in this season he has missed one game.

Yao Ming has been voted to the NBA all star game in each of his seven seasons in the NBA. This comes about mainly as he has a huge Chinese fan base and the sheer numbers of Chinese voting gets him in.

Yao Ming has been improving year to year in the NBA and could be considered an all star without the help from his Chinese fans.

Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady are the two star players for the Houston Rockets team. When they both play well Houston is a hard team to beat.
